1976 X500 Indian
This “Indian” is 1 of 1. Built by Ducati, Italy, in 1976 for the continuation of one of Floyd Clymer’s efforts to revive and offer an Indian brand motorcycle in the states. Unfortunately, Mr. Clymer died in 1970. His successors for the Indian brand, Alan Newmann and Keith Mullins lead this effort with the Ducati factory. My friend Bradley Fawcett, Greenville Cycle Exports, chased down the story on this bike to confirm it. The historian of archives for Italjet, Pasquale Mesto, rightfully claims he’s the only living person able to give the story and confirm the origin of this motorcycle. Details of the story would be available to a potential buyer.
Per the photo of the tach and speedo, the mileage on this bike is 489 miles.
